So 2018 has flown by so quickly! With all the latest trends, fashion scandals and it is almost time to start a whole new year of the upcoming trends. From street-wear to ready-to-wear couture, 2018 has certainly built up to many trends that makes everyone has the urge to want in their wish-list. Also this year, has brought many turns and shifts through the fashion industry through the importance of different social awareness including more diversity, body positvity, and celebrating the hard working, girl bosses. Here is a run down of the best of 2018 fashion trends.

Lavender Garden:

This year in 2018, Pantone had announced that "Ultra Violet" was the color of the year. With the world is exploring into the new developments of technology innovations, this shade of purple alludes to potential creative inspirations through artistic expressions and pushing boundaries within the fashion industry. This is also a perfect alternative with last years most seen colors of the millennial, blush pink. As described by Pantone (2018) "Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own." The lavender shades of purple has vastly been shown haute couture dresses, jumpsuits, blazers and much more.

Old Blue Jeans:

Dark wash denim has entered its way into the runways as well as streetwear. While denim has been around for long time, started by Levi's, this trend still reflects to what the classic light washed denim providing a more structured, and has been a staple look to every outfit.

The Trench Look: In the fall/winter seasons, trench coats have always been a continuous trend for everyday, work attire. Lately, trench coats have revamped its way into the runways again, adding new cuts and silhouettes that is perfect all year round. While trench coats have been a popular work attire, this allows more unique and variations in the clothes.

Art Nouveau:

The expressions of using paintings and creating sculptures have been around for many years, art has found its way into the fashion world. Throughout runways, many designers have implemented famous paintings and art into their designs whether its sticking to the traditional look of the paintings in the 1900's or putting a modern twist into the paintings into a more contemporary design.

Sustainability:

As the fashion industry is consistently changing, the production of clothes and technology innovation changes as well. Sustainable of "slow-fashion" clothes have branched out more into the fashion industry with a few popular brands such as Stella McCartney whom is known for luxury, sustainable fashion, and retailers including Reformation and Everlane. Transparency in working conditions, production of clothes have also been a key factor for these sustainable brands. With the reputation of these apparel retailers, many other popular "fast fashion" retailers such as H&M that has quite the scandal this year and as well as other controversies in the production of the clothes.

OMG Vintage!:

Along the sustainability, thrifting and vintage shopping has also been more on-going with the fashion industry. Although going to different thrift shops can be quite the hassle with finding cool pieces at an affordable deal, it's allowed consumers to donate clothes at places like Goodwill that are still wearable and possibly used for DIY's. With popular apps such as Depop and Poshmark, it has made it possible for consumers to make purchases of clothes whether they have only been worn once or never worn and finding others to find something that they like at an affordable price or even find pieces that they may have wanted. Other places such as ThredUp have also been the largest consignment online store allowing consumers to purchase clothes at an affordable price, offering many brands such as Free People, Madewell, Lululemon and much more.

Insta-Worthy Shops: While luxury fashion brands such as Balenciaga, Givenchy and Chanel have been the most searched brands, many apparel brands have become quite popular from Instagram, with their clothes worn by celebrities such as Kylie Jenner wearing Fashion Nova, Revolve selling luxury brands similar to Net-a-Porter, Princess Polly, and much more. Instagram has evolved throughout the years and with influencers promoting their clothes and brands, brands with an existing e-commerce store to be discovered.

Wrapped Up:

In the design elements of fashion, the wrapped, tied knot look has been a trend in the Spring/Summer season. From wrapped skirts, dresses and even pants, brings a sense of bohemian, feminine, soft look that can be worn in the heated weather to the beach and festival seasons.

Pretty in Prairie:

While the western retro vibes has made its way into the runaways, during the Spring season, the layered ruffled skirts and puffy blouses has also made a nostalgic comeback. With many luxury such as Coach Inc. and Tory Burch bringing more of the target market towards young adult women, they have been able to give a modern twist into the designs of the iconic Little House of Prairie dresses but for young adult women.

Oversize Hoodies:

Lastly, within the streetwear, over-sized hoodies has been quite the trend this year in 2018 for the fall/winter seasons. While people were rocking the cropped hooded sweaters and sweater dresses, over-sized hoodies have been everywhere in retailers and luxury fashion, giving people an effortless look in keeping warm during those cold, winter seasons. Many celebrities have rocked this look including Ariana Grande, Rihanna, Taylor Swift and Hailey Baldwin.
